What is CPSIA ?
CPSIA stands for "Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act", an American regulation that aims to improve safety of consumers with main focus on children’s products. CPSC stands for U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Who is affected by CPSIA ?
Any party manufacturing or exporting toys to the USA must show a general certificate of conformity, based on testing. ASTM F963 testing, the US equivalent to EN71, has always been necessary. CPSIA currently focuses on the total amount of lead in paints. This must be tested and certified by a CPSC accredited Lab (e. g. Eurofins, see accreditation details).
